This Waco arrived with F19, the Swedish volunteer squadron in Finland during the Winter War, on this day. The photo is assumed taken at the unit's main base which was on Ajos Island, with the runways on the frozen sea arm. Formerly a DQC-6, NC16515. To Sweden late in 1938 as SE-AHM, owner Kurt Björkvall naming it Imbrim after the trawler which rescued him when he ditched in the Atlantic in Bellanca SE-AFG. After the Winter War the Waco formally joined the Swedish air force as a Tp8A, s/n 914, wearing SE-AHM in 1944 pictures. Ditched into the Baltic on 8 August 1948 and sank. Originally completed on June 9th, 1933, it was sold to Charles Knox and Robert Tyce, owners of K-T Flying Service Ltd of Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii in 1938. In the early morning of December 7th, 1941, Bob Tyce was flying it when set upon by two Japanese fighters. Tyce managed to evade the fighters and landed safely at John Rogers Airport (now Honolulu International), only to be killed by strafing Japanese Zero fighters while standing on the airfield next to his plane, making him the first civilian casualty of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
