This the first Skybaby built by brothers William, Jack and Alan Clancy in 1931. The design was popular and several others were built in Australia and elsewhere the 1930s. None of these ultralight aircraft were placed on the Australian register at the time. In 1997 a Skybaby was registered, initially as a recreational aircraft, and then in 2010, as VH-UMH. At time of upload it remained the only one to be registered in Australia. An American-built one is part of the Powerhouse Museum collection after being donated by the EAA in Milwaukee. VoltAero is developing a unique general aviation aircraft family, the Cassio, for safe, quiet, efficient and eco-friendly flight in electric and electric-hybrid modes. The company achieved a major milestone with the signing of an agreement to supply 15 Cassio 330 electric-hybrid aircraft with an option for an additional 15 to HM Aerospace, a prominent Malaysian flight academy. The aircraft will be used for pilot training once they receive EASA certification and approval from Malaysia's Civil Aviation Authorities.

This is a Chinese Company which is leading innovation in this area of flight. The eHang is an eVTOL (electric Vertical take Off and Landing) Autonomous Aerial Vehicle (AAV) (ie pilotless) designed to carry two people and baggage with a maximum take off weight of 620kg for up to 30km. It is intended as an aerial taxi or sightseeing and has sixteen rotors. I was informed that test flights had recently been carried out in North Carolina. Part of the impressive innovation on display at Paris.

Ex G-APNJ. I first photographed this, the first Cessna twin to be registered in the UK, landing at Southend in 1970 (see my photo here). It was retired to the Newark museum after being withdrawn from use in 1983 and a few years ago was painted into this quasi "Blue Canoe" scheme, initially with serial '82127' and the British registration both on the tail

Only one Saab 18 is known to have survived, which is preserved with the Swedish Air Force Museum in Malmen. With the Flygmuseet F21 this replica cockpit of a B18A can be admired. The type was very suitable for reconnaissance and served the Swedish Air Force during the last year of WW 2 and well after, until the type's retirement in 1959.

Albert Fortescue developed an autogyro in Sydney in 1909-12. Test hops were made from Bonnie Doon golf course near his Arncliffe factory. Fortescue patented his design in several countries. In 1924 he put his rotor on a surplus Avro 504 fuselage to make the aircraft seen at the bridge opening. In Spain, Juan de la Cierva had developed an almost identical aircraft. Fortescue alleged patent breach but his patents had expired a few weeks before Cierva lodged his. Cierva has since been credited as the inventor of the autogyro. One of the unmarked decoy Sabres at Karup in the eighties. The slide gives serial F-986, but that is not a Danish Sabre serial. This must be one of F-018, F-118, F-123, F-307, F-500, F-952, F-953 or F-977.

Associated to the Wiltshire School of Flying, Jackaroo aircraft were founded at Thruxton in 1957 to convert surplus Tiger Moths into 4 seat Thruxton Jackaroo cabin biplanes. The company, which became Paragon Aircraft in the early 1960s, also designed the ES3 Paladin in two versions, the ES3 145 two seater and the ES3 175 four seater. None were built but this mock up was produced.
