C-47 42-92651 was delivered to the RAF as KG440 in February 1944. Returned to the US Air Force in July 1946, the transport became CF-GHL the same month. Registered to Ontario Central Airlines in 1974, it carried through name changes and a merger until it was sold to Air North in 1993 before returning to the USA in 1998 as N54AA. Sadly, the aircraft crashed while operating a freight flight for Caribbean Air on July 20, 2000. After losing an engine after take-off at Nassau, Bahamas, it failed to maintain altitude and crashed in a pine forest trying to return to the airport.

Came in for a few sightseeing flights above the Northern part of Holland.

A great day for photography today as 'Prinses Amalia' is in town for a number of sightseeing flights. Rainshowers and sun were a-plenty and made for some nice opportunities.

At the time of photo the aircraft was configured as a passenger liner. Now that Buffalo are no longer operating passenger sched flights it may have been reconfigured to freight.

After participating in the D-Day landings, the USAAF's 42-100882 was transferred to the RAF as a Dakota Mk.III, TS422. She likely took part in the Arnhem assault as a glider tug

There are three C-47s painted as RI-001 in Indonesia. The real RI-001 was c/n 26903, fate unclear. This one is said to be c/n 12514 which was 42-92686, DT-991, NI-480, PK-RCI, T-491, PK-DPK and lastly PK-GDZ of Garuda. PK-GDZ crashed near Surabaya on 29 December 1961, and this is likely to be a composite airframe.

One of the main targets on todays hike. The aircraft entered service with the US Army Air Force around 1942 as 42-23716. Later it went to the Argentine Navy as 0172 with code 5-T-22. It was withdrawn from use in 1979 and went to the Aero club at Ushuaia.

Johnson Flying Service bought this C-47A from the USAAF (ex 43-15731) in 1946 and operated it out of their base at Missoula, MT until sold in 1977. In 2001 Stan Cohen's Museum of Mountain Flying, also based at Missoula, bought it from McNeely Charter Service, and it arrived back at Missoula on 17 Oct 2001 on delivery. Initially the museum restored the aircraft to static display condition and by 2008 it had been repainted it in these original Johnson colours. It was later restored to flying condition, and Miss Montana had its first post-restoration flight out of Missoula on 19 May 2019. Three weeks later it participated in the Berlin Airlift 70th Anniversary in the UK, France and Germany as seen here, in pristine condition.

Converted to a BT-67 and delivered to the Thai air force.

Wartime C-47 that was delivered to the RAF and seconded to the RCAF, this Dakota was acquired by Trans Canada Airlines in 1946. Airline operated until taken over by Transport Canada in 1961, it's pictured during it's time operating for the Canadian Coast Guard on anti-pollution patrols and ice reconnaissance. Sold to Buffalo Airways in 1998, the aircraft was stored in Red Deer, AB as a parts source. The registration was changed to C-FBAE in 2011 when Air Spray requested use of the C-FDTH registration on one of their Lockheed Electras.

In French Air Force transport squadron ''Franche Comté" markings as it was during Indochina war.

There is a question mark hanging over the c/n for this aircraft. Conflicting evidence suggests that there may have been two DC-3s registered XA-JIH to Aerovias Oaxaquenas within a short period of time. One was c/n 4225 and the other c/n 9904. I cannot find any other information on c/n 4225 other than it was reportedly registered to Oaxaquenas in Sep 79. The c/n 9904 frame was previously with Basler as N138H and records indicate that the US registration was cancelled in Jan 80 as "exported to Mexico". If anyone has more definitive information, please contact me.
