USAF 53-1206, to Norwegian AF 31206 taken on charge Feb-1958, struck off charge Aug-1967 when it went into storage, to Forsvarsmuseet in 1978, and later to Norsk Luftfartsmuseum in Bodø. It is carrying the 331 Sqn badge and markings

In addition to several hundred F-86Fs, many of which were built in Japan by Mitsubishi, the JASDF acquired 122 F-86D "Sabre Dogs" between 1958 and 1961

This former 167th TFS WV ANG Sabre was acquired on disposal in 1961 by Dan Moyer of Front Royal, VA. Stored for over 30 years before being restored and placed on display at his local regional airfield with "Howdy Doody" nose art on the other side

Although marked as 24-287, there is some doubt about this aircraft's true identity as the serial belongs to an F-86D (with the distinctive bullet nose fairing). Displayed near the main entrance to the airbase

Seen at the wonderful Airshow Lelystad 2004. This jet, delivered to the USAF in 1949 as 48-178 and serving as such until 1958, was restored to flying condition during the early 1970s by Ben Hall. He also painted it in the Korean War 4th FIW markings it still carries in this photo. Its current owners bought the jet in 1990 (ex N178, N68388), and first flew it on 21 May 1992. By mid 2017 this Sabre was still flying (now as N48178, still in the same markings), as the world's oldest flying jet!

A very attractive recent restoration. I have written to the Museum to try to obtain the real identity, as the one displayed is probably false, but without a reply. It is ex Danish Air Force F-977 and thus 51-5977
