Actually 49-1067 which was used as a JF-86A from 1954, ferried to the museum in 1961 and now marked to represent F-86A 49-1236 of the 4th FG, the jet in which Lt Col Bruce Hinton became the first to shoot down a MiG-15 over Korea in December 1950

Correct serial is 49-1217. Preserved at the Planes of Fame Air Museum with fake serial 49-1318. Later moved to the Planes of Fame Air Museum, Valle, AZ. Exported to the UK as G-BZNL in 2000. To the Flying Heritage Collection, Seattle, WA as N4912 in 2001. May have moved to Bentonville, AR in 2023 when the collection was sold.

On display at Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. This Sabre was shipped to Japan in 1950 and flown to Korea . This Sabre was shipped to Japan in 1950 and flown to Korea as part of Far East Air Force (FEAF) to counter the MiG-15 threat.. It is painted in the markings of 336th FIS "Rocketeers" commanded by Lt. Col. Bruce H. Hinton, the first F-86 pilot to shoot down a MiG-15 on 17 Dec 1950. The unit along with the 334th and 335th FIS formed part of the 4th FIG which was the cream of the crop with WW2 aces. The group was to enjoy the lion's share of victories over MiG Alley, ending the brief air superiority of the MiG-15. This aircraft went to the museum in 2005.

The 500th Sabre. The rough writing on the gun cover panel suggests the Life photographer had not been invited to Inglewood to celebrate the milestone number. He was shooting for an article entitled 'Airplane Industry Expansion', probably in response to the outbreak of war in Korea. On the left is serial number 49-1299 (construction number 161-293), wearing its line number 514. The T-28 is also in full production. 49-1285 crashed near the Gunpowder River in Maryland in 1954. New F-86As at the Inglewood factory, now the cargo area at the southeast corner of LAX. The Sabres wear line numbers. 49-1290 is the 283th F-86A in the third production batch and after three XP-86s, 32 in the first batch and 187 in the second, this is indeed the 505th Sabre.
