I have not been able to establish with certainty which aircraft this cockpit section came from, nor have I seen other images of it. The livery on the aft part appears to be that of Florida-based Missionary Flights International and ties in with the style used on N2401, which was damged in a hurricane and broken up in Florida. The nose section of N2401 was then used to repair C-47A 42-24049 at Norrtälje, Sweden, the nose section of which was corroded.

Built as 42-23706, to West Coast Airlines as NC44585 in 1947, merged into Air West in August 1967 and to Aerodyne in April 1969. To E-Systems of Greenville Texas in February 1985 and subsequently to El Salvador. Withdrawn from use by 1999 and stored at Ilopango for many years, still believed present as recently as 2019.

Delivered to the RAN in February 1949, this C-47 was ex 42-92711 and served with 851 Sqdn, fitted out as a flying classroom to train Sea Venom and Gannet observers. The extended nose carried A117 and ASV radar. After 3181 hours accumulated, it was withdrawn from use in 1970 and allocated to the Museum in 1976

Staging through on a ferry flight to the USA for maintenance with Basler.

Later registered as N843MB; acquired by Basler Turbo Conversions but, as yet, not used in the BT-67 programme.

6 Mar '44: TOS USAAF. D-Day: Was lead aircraft for the invasion, dropping paratroopers of the 101st Airborne Division at 0048. Hit by Flak. Returned to England, repaired Flak damage, then made 2nd mission in the evening, delivering a glider load of troops and equipment. 1944: Flew many missions flying supplies into France and evacuated wounded troops to England. 15 Aug 44: Dropped paratroopers in Operation Dragoon. 17 Sep 44: Dropped paratroopers during Operation Market Garden. 12/44-1/45: Flew supply missions during Battle of the Bulge. 24 Mar 45: Dropped paratroopers for Operation Varsity.

The aircraft is listed for sale by an owner in Ohio and was flown up to ANC with 4 intermediate stops. The listing describes it as a DC-3C TP, and one source stated it was, " converted to Greenwich Aircraft Corp. Turbo Dakota DC-3, conversion with a stretched fuselage, strengthened wing center section, updated systems, and powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-65AR turboprop engines on 8 July 1998". Reportedly it will be flying for Desert Air based in Anchorage, Alaska.

The aircraft was damaged when it hit a ground power unit at Amsterdam on 9 May 1970. After repairs the aircraft flew back to Antwerp, but was never taken on charge again. It ended up as a local club house.
