KL979 had flown from London to Whenuapai carrying the NZ Labour Minister. It picked up the NZ prime minister and flew him to London via Washington DC, completing a round-the-world mission. In London the prime minister attended the first session of the United Nations General Assembly on January 10, 1946. KL979 was returned to the US in 1946 and was then passed to the US Navy. K25 slide scan. Built 1944 as R5D-3 56528 for USN. Redesignated C-54Q 1962. Retired at Lichtfield Park 1964, MASDC 1966, auctioned 1975. Registered N67035. Biegert Aviation N44915 1977. Initially Falcon Field, Chandler Memorial from 1980. Remained unused in ex USN colours. First wheeled aircraft to land at McMurdo, Antarctica 20 December 1955. Efforts to preserve this historically important aircraft failed and it was scrapped in 2006, the nose section surviving in private ownership.

Ex USAF 42-72706. Became (N4988T), C-GRYZ, C9-ATF, 3D-ATF, (ZS-PAK), scrapped in 2001

Retired to MASDC May 1964. Uploaded for its rarity despite the poor quality. It appears to have a large observation window so may have been re-designated as HC-54D Rescuemaster.

Delivered to the USAAF as 42-72539, withdrawn to MASDC at Davis Monthan in 1970 and bought in 1977 by Aero Union as N65397. Sold to Soundair in Canada 1979 as C-GCXG and returned to the US in 1990 before being sold in Kenya in 1995. Registered 9Q-CLM with Transcontinental in October 1996 and joined Air Transport office in December 1996. Sold to Cargo Express Congo shortly after this photo was taken and registered as EL-WLS. Suspected of operating supply flights to UNITA rebels and impounded by the Angolan Air Force in 1998, it ended its days on the dump at Luanda and was scrapped by June 2012.

Exported to the USA as N8060C in 1979. Crashed in flames after striking trees on final approach in fog near McCormick, South Carolina, on19 November 1979 killing both crew. The cargo was 15,000 lbs (approx 7,000Kg) of Marijuana. At the time it was operated by Tiburon Aircraft Inc.

Built for the USAF as 43-17242 and entered service in September 1945. Flew with the Danish Air Force as N-242 from 1959 until 1978 and as C-GRYY with Millardair in Canada from 1978 -1991, Registered C9-ATS to Interocean Airways in Mozambique in 1991 and re-registered EL-AWX in 1997. Purchased by Phoebus Apollo in Jan 2000 and donated to the SAA museum at Rand in 2006.

Registered from March 1958 to 1960. It then flew with a multitude of operators in various countries until it met its fate as N8060C on 19 November 1979. While carrying 15000 lbs of marijuana, it struck trees and crashed in flames attempting to land on a grass strip at McCormick/SC.

This aircraft was formerly N9015Q and was re-registered N500EJ. It will replace BAHFs former C-54E N500EJ, which will be used as a parts source to keep the "new" N500EJ flying. The aircraft will be painted in colors very similar to the "original" N500EJ.

After 9 months of hard work by BAHF volunteers, C-54D N9015Q makes her first flight since August 2014. After completing an uneventful one hour test flight, the aircraft landed safely at the airport. The next day she departed, under the able command of Tim Chopp, for Walterboro, South Carolina where the interior from tornado damaged N500EJ will be transferred. After a June 2021 paint shop appointment in Arkansas, she will join the airshow circuit.

Flew in Government service its entire civilian life. First with the CAA and here for the U.S. Immigration Service, likely transporting Scottish immigrants to the New World. In 1965 it was transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement which sounds like it was deporting illegals. Finally in 1966 it was taken over by the U.S. Department of Justice so would have been conducting prisoner transfer flights. On 8 August 1967 it was wrecked landing at San Antonio/TX when the gear retracted on roll-out.
