Flew in Government service its entire civilian life. First with the CAA and here for the U.S. Immigration Service, likely transporting Scottish immigrants to the New World. In 1965 it was transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement which sounds like it was deporting illegals. Finally in 1966 it was taken over by the U.S. Department of Justice so would have been conducting prisoner transfer flights. On 8 August 1967 it was wrecked landing at San Antonio/TX when the gear retracted on roll-out. This photo was added on 29 April 2021, and has since been viewed 332 times. |
