The fifty CH-135s (originally designated CUH-1Ns) interestingly had US serial numbers for paperwork that were never actually applied. This one is 70-15655 but delivered as 135106 April 19, 1971. Struck off strength in 1999 and stored at Mountainview, Ont, it was transferred to Colombian Army (EJC-227) in January 2001. With new serial EJC-4227 after 2013, the helicopter crashed at Quibdo, Colombia on March 19, 2023 after loss of control at low level. While video of the incident points to loss of the tail rotor, official cause has not been determined at the time of uploading.

In the mid 60s, promoter / pilot Jack Canary arranged for new BU-133s to be built in Germany by Josef Bitz Flugzeugbau using original plans. While production of the initial five aircraft was underway, Mr. Canary was killed in a warbird crash in 1968. Only four aircraft were delivered (N4937 was the third off of the production line), but several more were completed from spare parts later on. The aircraft is pictured at AirVenture 2016 performing a perfect inverted pass.

Quebec based Wheeler Airlines was the first to operate this Otter 1956 - circa 1970. Geophysical instrument company Scintrex Limited (an acronym for Scientific Instruments, Research and Exploration) used the aircraft to develop electromagnetic systems for mineral exploration and conduct airborne surveys for notable base metals and uranium exploration. Returned to passenger configuration in 1977, it flew in Quebec with eight airlines until sold to Harbour Air in Vancouver in 2001. With a Vazar turbine conversion the same year, the aircraft is current with Harbour Air at the time of uploading.

This 1958 United Airlines DC-8 got a new lease on life in 1983 when it was re-engined as a DC-8-71. Sold in 1989, the aircraft was leased back until returned to the lessor in 1991. Converted to a freighter, it was leased to Southern Air Transport 1992-93. It was next leased to Air Transport International in 1993 as N823BX and flown for Burlington Air Express. In 1992 the company had become Gulf Canada Resources in big energy dealings that nearly gave me a head ache trying to follow and the aircraft was sold.
