The all-weather fighter version of the MiG-17 is equipped with an Izumrud radar and three 23 mm NR-23 cannons. Its different nose cone can be appreciated in this shot of serial 165 preserved with the excellent collection at Gatow.

Many, many preserved aircraft of the former USSR can be found with bord (code) 01 red. Monino has its very own MiG-17 01 red, which was added to the collection on 20 July 1961.

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2025, NX917F and NX217SH. NX917F was a Lim-5 that was converted by the Polish Air Force to a reconnaissance version Lim-5R. But upon sale to the civil market the camera equipment was removed, reverting it to the basic Lim-5.

A very unusual sight, seeing three MiG-17s (Lim-5s) in formation N917F (1613) flies together with N1713P (1713) and N1726M (1726). A fourth Lim-5, N717MG (1210 in Polish AF livery) flew close by.

WSK-Mielec Fresco-C Jabo on display at the Luftwaffenmuseum. This aircraft served the LSK/LV from 1957 with JG 1 "Fritz Schmenkel" at Cottbus, with JG 8 at Marxwalde in 1963 and JBG 37 "Klement Gottwald" at Drewitz from 1972. Around 180 MiG-17Fs served the LSK till 1985. An SRD-1M radar rangefinder slaved to the target tracking radar and ASP-4N automatic optical gunsight is visible on the nose, as is a strut supported 57 mm MARS-2 rocket pod for S-5 rockets. The radio antenna mast by the starboard rear canopy frame and ESKR-46 flare dispenser on the front starboard fin are no longer fitted.

In 1994 the MiG-17 was transported from Eastern Germany to the Luftwaffemuseum collection at Uetersen. A year later the museum relocated to Berlin - Gatow, taking the MiG with them. Photographer unknown

WSK-Mielec Fresco-C taxiing by at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024 for its display. This aircraft was built in 1957 and is one of 477 produced in Poland between 1956-60. The original radio antenna mast by the starboard rear canopy frame is no longer fitted. The three wing fences, Syrena-2 button antenna, RV-2 Kristal radar altimeter antenna by the wheel well, ESKR-46 flare dispenser on the front starboard fin and extended airbrake are visible. The rudder can be deflected 25° to either side of the tail with a 4.26 m² surface area, slightly larger than that of the MiG-15.
