Became N5538V, and from '61 owned by Star Flite Inc as N706ME (named Initiator V). Cvtd by On Mark Engineering Co at Van Nuys (CA) '63-'64 and served WR Bailard, Ventura (CA) from '66-'72 as N36BB (as Coastal Luck IV). Sold to Micky Rupp, Mansfield (OH) '74 as N26MR, then Sherman Aircraft Sales from Jan'75 as N26WB. Several other owners until it became N706ME in 1992 with Nostalgia Inc. Never operated as such, remained stored at Las Cruses as N26WB. Still there by 2024.

Only marked N550 (carried in very small print below the tailplane), and in the cockpit as 44-34555, this fuselage of an Invader was seen at Las Cruses. It was officially reregistered to N26HK in August 1989, but it appears that this reg was never applied. The reg N26HK was cancelled on 18 October 2022.

Identified from the position of the starboard propeller from the photos of this trio of Invaders at Entebbe.....the machine-gun nose pointed directly at Entebbe tower probably raised some eyebrows!

Ca.11/50 to 2/51: Douglas Aircraft and converted to B-26C. 26 Jan 54: Loaned to the French Air Force and served in combat in Indochina. 10 Nov 55: Returned to the USAF and stored at Clark AFB, Philippines. 1958: Registered N5538V. 1961: N706ME. 1963: Converted to a Marketeer. 1966: N36BB. 1974: N26MR. 1975: N26WB. 1988: National Warplane Museum, Geneseo, NY and converted with an 8-gun nose. 25 Jan 92: stored at Las Cruces, NM, registered N706ME but still carrying N26WB on the tail.

Initially delivered to USAAF in 1945 as 44-34535. Delivered to Portuguese Air Force in 1965 as 7101. Modified and refurbished for counter insurgency operations in Portugal's African colonies; Seen here marked as FAR 933and repainted as 937 on nose following Hurricane Michelle in Nov 2001. It is thought that Cuban forces in Angola might have brought this plane back to Cuba. However a doubt exist concerning the real history of this A-26. It might have been sold separatly to Cuba for use as a parts source only in the late 1950s until it was repaired and put in service under Cuban AF.

This aircraft was in open storage at Antwerp for about 10 years until donated to the Belgian Army Museum in Brussels where it has been resotored and now resides. Type often incorrectly quoted as a On Mark Marksman or Marketeer, but this aircraft never underwent such a conversion.

From my log book:- There was some mystery over this a/c as it was supposed to have landed at Dubai A/P. Usually access to an aircraft was granted by the pilot or crew but they wouldn't allow me onboard this one........I wondered why? Later learned that it was impounded at Karachi A/P in August of the same year for allegedly being used in a "gun-running" operation! Apparently it lay derelict at the airport for many years until taken on by the Pakistan Air Force Museum to be refurbished and put on display.

Painted in fake markings. This Invader is ex USAAF 41-39472. Struck off charge in August 1957, it became N86482 in 1963 and was illegally sold to the El Salvador Air Force as 601 in August 1969. It had been withdrawn from service by 1972 and was sold as N26VC in April 1974 and flown from El Salvador to San Diego, CA that same month. The Invader was eventually delivered to the Castle Air Museum on 26 October 1980, where it was first displayed as "24-6093". This was later changed to the markings seen here.

Registered to Rock Island Oil & Refining Co., having been converted to Rock Island Consort 26 with special equipment visible below the fuselage. Sold to Conair Aviation of Abbotsford/BC in 1971 where it was converted for the air tanker role as CF-MSB. Final assignment is masquerading as Cuban Air Force 931 at the Wings Over Miami Museum. There was never a real 612 with the Saudi Air Force, and this is assumed this to be the former 302 (almost certainly ex USAAF 43-22679). That aircraft has been preserved in Riyadh for many years, after having been rescued from a nearby scrapyard where it had ended up by the 1960s.
