Based on the successful Kawasaki C-1 transport, this was a one-off Quiet STOL research aircraft, developed by the National Aerospace Laboratory. Powered by four FRJ710 turbofan engines and making use of the Coandă effect. It was built to research STOL using upper surface blowing, aircraft noise reduction, fly-by-wire systems and composite materials construction and is now displayed at the Kakamigahara Aerospace Museum outside Gifu Air Base. The small Japanese 航空宇宙技術研究所 titles stand for National Aerospace Laboratory.

One of several unique types seen only in Japan is the P-1, designed to supersede the JMSDF's Orions. First flown in 2007, initial deliveries took place in 2013 and as many as 70 may eventually be acquired. In early January 2015, it was even offered as a potential replacement for the UK's axed Nimrods

Yugoslavia obtained 24 Hurricane Is from Hawker by 1940 and had commenced licence production with a similar number competed by the time it was overrun by Axis powers in April 1941. Interestingly one of these was modified by Ikarus at Zemun with a Diamler Benz DB601A engine replacing the RR Merlin, apparently improving performance. The exhibited Mk.IV, built in 1943, flew in the liberation of Yugoslavia with 351 (Y) Sqn RAF, and later became 9539 with the YAF, which operated Hurricanes till 1952

Formerly the RAF's MW848 and delivered to India in 1948, this is one of 11 (or possibly 12) Tempests surviving worldwide. Sister-ship HA622 was last noted as a decoy in 1988. Looking good here but not too sure about that tailwheel! Seven Tempests were eagerly snapped up in the late 70s when auctioned off by India

A later shot of G-AXAA than I uploaded as part of a fog diversion group at Southend. Here with additional IAS sticker on a crisp winter morning at her Stansted base, she was Flying Tiger's N449T being ferried JFK - SEN for TMAC on 13.1.69. Went to AEI as N122AE in 9.81, into storage at Greensboro, NC, in 1989 and broken up for scrap 1999

This Hunter was constructed as an F.4 for the RAF, f/f 4.2.55, and was one of the first to be re-built as a T.8 two-seater for the FAA in 1959. In 1970 she joined what became the FRADU at Yeovilton serving till 1994 when flown to Shawbury for disposal, having become the oldest flyable Hunter in the world in 1983. She was auctioned next year with 9,500 hrs/12,500 landings, ferried to Exeter as G-BWGN in 1996 and moved to Kemble in 2006 and on to Coventry for the new Airbase centre in 2010 (relocated to Newquay 2012)
