slide taken by Norbert Kröpfl. - Hercules c/n 4458 saw military service with the Imperial Iranian Air Force and later with the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force after the revolution in 1979, already re-registered as 5-8533. It has not been seen since decades, and rumours say that the aircraft could have been one of those destroyed during an Iraqi bomb raid at Shiraz in 1986. Pan Adria Airlines, renamed to Trans Adria in 1978, operated a total of five FH-227s, which had been initially ordered and flown by Mohawk Airlines. The Fairchilds came to Yugoslavia in 1974; this particular aircraft left again in 1980 and operated as F-ODMP and F-GGDM. It was written off when it crashed into a mountain near Valence on 10/APR/89.

It was written off when it crashed into a mountain near Valence on 10/APR/89.

slide scan from the NK collection. - Ariana bought this Boeing 727 from World in 1971 and kept it in their fleet until October 2001, when it was destroyed by a bomb raid at Kabul. The colours were occasionally adjusted for some leases to other airlines; otherwise, the scheme remained unchanged, only the Afghan flag disappeared in later years.
