West Coast Air Grumman G-21A, CF-GEC, on the ramp at Vancouver Airport on June 15, 1977. One year later the aircraft struck an object and sank just off Powell River, BC on 14 August 1978, with no loss of life. This Goose served with the RCAF Western Air Command from Dec 1944 to Jan 1946 and was based at Vancouver from 1948 with BNP Airways (1948-1966) and the BC Hydro and Power Authority (1966-1968) then flew with Midwest Airlines in Winnipeg (1969-1972) before returning to Vancouver in 1973 to join the fleet of West Coast Air Services.

Douglas DC-3, CF-CRX joined the fleet of Harrison Airways in Oct. 1974 after a 28-year career with Canadian Pacific Airlines since July 1946. The DC-3 was repainted in this blue and white colour scheme in 1974-1975 and named "Tweedsmuir". Harrison flew DC-3s to Burns Lake & Dease Lake in support of a 663 km railway project linking Fort St. James to Dease Lake, but the railway was cancelled in April 1977 which hurt business. Futura Airlines bought the charter licences in 1979. The Harrison hangar was first built to flight test wartime RCAF aircraft overhauled by Boeing and Canadian Pacific.

This Ayres S2R-600 Thrush, C-GYXL-X, was one of the first agricultural aircraft mounted on floats for aerial firefighting. The system was designed by inventor Paul Hajduk of Terr-Mar Aviation in Vancouver, BC in the 1983-1985 period when the aircraft was registered to Meridian Grain and Golden West Aviation and later carried "Seathrush Air Tanker' markings. Hajduk then converted a S2R-T34 Turbo Thrush, N40101, of Custom Farm Service into an air tanker on amphibious floats in 1987, and a S-2R-T660 Turbo Thrush in 2000. (The first rival AT-802AF Fire Boss amphibian entered service in BC in 2003)

Registered as N7035V then HB-GJT in 2007 and C-GILK in 2012. Has the British Columbia Ambulance Service emblem on the fuselage.

Originally 26036 with the RCAF, this Tutor got new serial 114036 in 1971. The trainer was with the Snowbirds 1977 - 1989. By 1995 the Air Force withdrew it for controlled cannibalization. In 1999 the aircraft was made presentable and mounted on a pole as gate guardian at CFB Moose Jaw, SK with 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School markings.

First delivered to Air East as N147AE in 1971, this Beech 99 was acquired by fellow Allegheny Commuter airline Pennsylvania Commuter Airlines in 1975 as N151CA. Traded to Shorts USA (N431BC) in 1983 to buy Short SD3-60s, it flew with several commuters before coming to San Juan Airlines 1987 - 89 as N805BA. The aircraft is flying with Ameriflite with the same registration at the time of uploading.

Arriving from Calgary as AC213 is the first 737-8 MAX to join the Air Canada fleet just over five years ago. Hard to believe it has been that long.

"Fiji (FJI) 880 Heavy" on arrival this afternoon from the South Pacific. My first catch of their scheduled service after it started up last Friday. Nice to see them send their sole A330-300 as well.

Arriving as F81889 from Los Angeles (LAX) this afternoon. Back in October, Flair decided to end service to Burbank and switch to serving LAX.

Grumman G-21A Goose N88821 was imported to Canada in 1973 and sold by Viking Air at Victoria Airport (YYJ) after overhaul to Alert Bay Air Services in January 1974. The company served the mid-British Columbia coast from a waterfront base in Alert Bay on Cormorant Island located a few miles off the northeast coast of Vancouver Island. Acquired by Jim Pattison Industries in the early 1980s during the creation of AirBC and primarily operated by sister company Trans-Provincial Airlines until it ground looped on landing at Sandspit Airport in Feb. 1991. The wreck was acquired by the Tongass Historical Society in Ketchikan (AK) in 1992 as N88821 and was still under restoration for static display with them by 2022.

In September 1968, this former Qantas DHC-3 Otter, CF-XRI, was ferried across the Pacific from Australia to join the fleet of Airwest Airlines in Vancouver, BC. For most of the 1970s, this was the only DHC-3 Otter operating daily scheduled flights into Vancouver Harbour with its distinct engine sound distinguishing it from the more common Cessna 180/185s, DHC-2 Beaver and DHC-6 Twin Otters. AirWest was one of several coastal airlines acquired by the Jim Pattison Group to form AirBC in the early 1980s. C-FXRI now flies as a Vazar DHC-3 Turbo Otter powered by a PT6A turboprop with Osprey Wings.

Registered as N4211V in 2000, F-GOSB in 2001 and N4211V then C-GRUU in 2012.

Originally a Convair 340 delivered to United Airlines in 1952, Sierra Pacific Airlines bought this Convair 580 in November 1982. Pictured on a short lease to Trans Provincial Airlines (May to September 1990), the aircraft was eventually retired in 1995 and the registration cancelled.

This Beaver was delivered to Victoria Flying Service June 29, 1966 appropriately registered CF-VFS (Later C-FVFS). Circa 1979 the aircraft moved to West Coast Air Services / Air BC. The floatplane is pictured during it's short time with Waglisla Air.
