An order for three A310s and three options was announced by BCal in 1979, the first two (G-BKWT and G-BKWU) being delivered in March 1984. But by mid-1985 changes in the airline's route network meant that the type was no longer viable on its routes - too big for short-haul and too small for long-haul. So the third on order and the options were cancelled. In a devious set of sanction-busting transactions, 'WU found its way to Libyan Arab as 5A-DLB in June 1986, later becoming 7T-VJF, JY-AGV and TS-IGV. Used as an instructional airframe from 2006 at Amman. Right wing now broken off.

Yet another Caravelle that found its way to Colombia for its final days of service, sold to Aerogolfo in August 1993 as HK-3957X. It had first been delivered to Sterling in June 1970 and was leased to Air Toulouse International for summer 1992 as F-GHKP. The ultimate fate of the aircraft is uncertain but was likely given false identity HK-3869 for a drug run to Mexico in mid-1994 and is said to have been buried there. The genuine HK-3869X was c/n 232 which has been preserved by the Fuerza Aérea Mexicana.

One of many Caravelles with an interesting history. Starting in Oct 1965 to Syrian Arab as YK-AFA, donated to Air Mali as TZ-ADS in Sep 1980 with a lease to CTA in 1981, sold to Corse Air as F-GEPC in Feb 1984, leased to Air Calédonie International in Nov 1994 and sold to them 1986, to EAS October 1989, wfu LBG 1992 TT 37780, stored Dinard 1994, to Iberoamericana de Carga as HK-3962X and delivered via Faro in Nov 1994. Stored at BOG and w/o 4th Nov 1995 in hard landing on dry lake near Cabu San Lucas, Mexico carrying coacine and false reg HK-4029. Police cut off wings, aircraft buried in sand.

Alconbury based 95 SRS / 17 TRW TR-1A's operated from Wyton for three months in 1984 due to runway work at their base. They returned to Alconbury in July 1984. Note the chase car bottom left of the photograph.
