Photo taken at the nuclear test site for Operation Totem. The UK exploded two bombs on towers at the site in 1953. Several RAAF Mustangs were flown in and parked at various positions in the test area. The damage on the tail of A68-97 due to passing vehicles, not the blasts. Recovered and exported to the US in 1968 for use as spares by Cavalier Aircraft..

Former VH-UUI became N240G in May 1966, but in this photo it does not appear to be carrying its new registration yet. This General Aircraft Company Genairco Cabin biplane was first registered in Australia as VH-UOH on 2 June 1930, and reregistered as VH-UUI on 24 Sep 1936. In the late 1980s it was acquired by Kermit Weeks. Note the landing gear struts, inboard top wing struts, window and tail shapes.

Gloom and Doom. My first multi day trip to the New York area was a washout--literally. After getting off a few shots in EWR Friday morning it began to rain, and was still doing so Sunday afternoon as I waited for my flight home at LGA. I snapped a couple of shots through the window, this being the only one usable. Less than a month later this 727 collided mid-air with a Cessna 310 over North Carolina and was destroyed.

One of the best chainlink fence pictures I've taken--and the airplane is rather interesting also, an Allegheny Cargoliner. Ex Braniff, and was later converted to a 580.

Delivered in 1957 and converted to freighter in 1960, this aircraft was in it's final days of service with TWA. It was parked too close to the terminal for a full view, and the other side was an active taxiway, so it's a two part shot.
