This AT-11 was ordered by the NEI air force and was to have been A-14, but delivered to the Royal Netherlands Military Flying School at Jackson with the serial 42-3070, based on the c/n. To the USAAF, 42-3070 was a B-17. The strange serial is clearly visible on the port side of the nose in another shot. In the background here are P-39 Airacobras in US markings, including 42-18885. This was the sole XC-53A, distinguished from the standard C-53 Skytrooper by experimental fitment of full-span slotted flaps. These are visible in this shot, extending almost to the wing tips. It was later converted back to standard C-53.

Fairey Aviation built 150 Halifax B.V's at their Errwood Park Works at Stockport. A newly completed example for the RAF has been loaded on a convoy of seven lorries and will depart for Manchester (Ringway) Airport when the lads and lassies of the day shift have gone home. C-47 of 41 Troop Carrier Squadron of the USAAF's 5th Air Force at a remote airfield in PNG in 1943. Named "Queenie", it is being closely examined by a group of indigenous people as bigwigs pose for their photo. The aircraft survived the war only to be scrapped in 1947 after its arduous service.
