Serial is LK89* with last digit not known. Location is either RAF Croft or RAF Dishforth. Ground crew swarm all over a Halifax at the "Caribou" 1664 Heavy Conversion Unit in the RCAF Bomber Group which is commanded by G/C E.L. Wurtele of Montreal. The big aircraft are brought into hangars only for major repairs and overhauls; all routine work must be done at their dispersal points, regardless of weather or time of day. DND photo.

Fairey Aviation built 150 Halifax B.V's at their Errwood Park Works at Stockport. A newly completed example for the RAF has been loaded on a convoy of seven lorries and will depart for Manchester (Ringway) Airport when the lads and lassies of the day shift have gone home. Obtained from Fairey's sixty years ago.
