A lovely line-up of classics in the T2 hangar. The Starfighter first flew in March 1963 and was operated by the Royal Netherlands Air Force as D-8061. The other jet is the PH-XIV, the first built/prototype Fokker S.14 Machtrainer. It was used by the NLR between 1961 and 1966. The background eyecatcher is the PH-DDZ, which has been grounded for a while now. She gave an engine to the PH-PBA to keep her flying, but there now is a good working one available for the -DDZ again. The 2-seater in the foreground is a replica Fokker D.VII, although the engine in front is an original one.

Located in an unlit area of the exhibit hall, it took a 3-minute exposure time and some Photoshop magic to get the photo up to par. SOBEH (Stichting voor de Ontwikkeling en Bouw van een Experimenteel Hefschroefvliegtuig) was founded in 1952 to develop a helicopter. Ater the H-1 followed the H-2 and an improved model, the H-3 Kolibrie was built in series by NHI. Unfortunately the aircraft wasn't a succes and production was halted in 1961 after a total of 11 had been built. The aircraft in the photo was produced by SOBEH and registered between December 1954 and March 1958. Transferred to the TU Delft and later to the HTS in Haarlem. To the museum in August 2001.

Built in 1958. To World Wide Helicopters in October 1961 as N7904C. To an unknown owner by October 1965. On October 31, 1965 the aircraft hit ditches during the landing rollout at/near El Adem, Libya. To the Technische Hogeschool Delft as an instructional frame until January 1989. Then to the Aviodrome, where the markings JZ-PAD were added.

Operated by the Spanish Air Force between December 1954 and June 1973 as T.2B-275. Later marked as 721-16. To Warbirds of Great Britain between November 1977 and May 1985 as G-BFHF. 'N7-AA' markings added in May 1985. To an aircraft museum in/near Marl-Loemuhle (Germany) and marked as D-ADAM. To the Aviodrome in March 2007, where the markings '1Z-IK' were applied. It is now on display in the indoor exhibit '100 years of aviation', with the right side of the aircraft missing.

Delivered to KLM in September 1978. Withdrawn from use and stored at Amsterdam (EHAM) on November 17, 2003. Acquired by the Aviodrome and preserved there on December 17, 2004.

For some perhaps a bunch of junk, for me a Fokker F.VIII. After its life with KLM (as PH-AED), it was sold to the Venezuelan Government in March 1939. In April 1939, the aircraft flew to Gran Sabana to try to find Captain Cardona Puig in the area of Kamarata. The aircraft landed with a tail wind and was unable to stop in time. It ran into a ditch and the left engine caught fite. While the crew managed to put out the fire, the aircraft had to be abandoned. The remains were found in 2001. Recovered by Aviodrome volunteers and transported back to the museum for display.

This really was Royal Navy XJ350.

Delivered to the USAAF as 42-23974 then to the RAF as FD938 and then to the SAAF in 1943. Reserialled as 6867 in 1945. To ZS-NJE then to G-BVOL in 1994. To the Dutch Dakota Association in 1996. Wings and tail used in rebuild of PH-PBA c/n 19434 to fly. Fitted with wings and tail from PH-PBA, painted as PH-TCB and displayed at Amsterdam-Schiphol from 2000. Moved to the Aviodrome at Lelystad in 2003.

PH-BUK was transported by ship from Amsterdam Airport to Lelystad for preservation in the Aviodrome museum. On the late evening of 15 December 2004 the disassembled airplane was pulled onto a floating barge. The little tug boats keeping it in place. Later that night they started the journey to Lelystad though the city of Amsterdam. A large banner with all the sponsors was attached to the airplane for the ride. Special banners for Saan, the transport company specialised in these kind of transports for both KLM and Aviodrome, and one banner for NVLT, the union of Dutch aircraft engineers.

PH-BUK crossing the Fokkerweg at Schiphol East, being moved from Schiphol to the Aviodrome museum in Lelystad. No permission was granted for a ferry flight from Amsterdam to Lelystad, so the airplane had to be partially disassembled and transported by ship.
