XX109 first flew in November 1972 and was the second production GR.1. It commenced flying with the A&AEE in May 1973 and was most famously used for a motorway takeoff and landing carried out on the M55. In 1986 it was flown into RAF Coltishall and retired to become a weapon-loading trainer. With the invasion of Kuwait, the preparations for war included trials of suitable camouflage and XX109 was selected to trial the desert pink scheme. Acquired by the Norwich museum in September 2004

Built 1971 as a Nimrod MR.1 and converted to MR.2 standard at Woodford over a two year period between 1978 and 1980, the third of some 35 aircraft so modified. On retirement in 2010 it was allocated to the RAF Museum at Cosford, but due to the short runway there it was instead flown to Norwich for preservation, albeit that two years later Cosford did receive a Nimrod R.1. XV255 arrived at Norwich in May 2010

Built in 1968 for the Royal Saudi AF, this Lightning first flew as G-AWON and was displayed at the 1968 Farnborough Airshow. Delivered to Saudi in 1969, it served as 53-686, then 201, 1305 and finally as 223 before being returned to BAe in 1986 as part of a Tornado deal. After storage and a failed resale. It went on display in Norwich in 2002 in the correct RSAF markings. Around 2020 the right side was repainted in 74 Sqdn colours to represent one of their Lightning F.6s

This aircraft has been fitted with under wing pylons for Shrike missiles / ECM jamming pods as used in the Falklands conflict. These are visible outboard of the main gear doors. XM612 was involved in the Falklands operations but did not perform shrike missions. In fact it never went beyond Ascension Island having been slated as a back up aircraft on a number of missions. Also of note is the 1000 gallon auxiliary fuel tank which is sitting under the starboard wing. This could be installed in the bomb-bay to extend operational range at the expense of some bomb load.
