With Jelenia Góra titles. Only five months after this photo was taken, on 18 Jan 2007, this nice An-2 was very severely damaged during cyclone "Kyrill", when another An-2 was lifted up and thrown on top of it. It was eventually repaired by replacing its entire fuselage. The old fuselage was then dumped at Miroslawice.

The local aeroclub at Jelenia Góra operated this nice Antonov, but for unknown reasons it was dismantled not long after this photo was taken. In 2008 and 2012 only the wings and fin were seen at the airport, but luckily it was put together again in 2015 and returned to the air.

On 18 Jan 2007, only five months after this photo was taken, this An-2 was destroyed during cyclone "Kyrill", when it was lifted up and thrown upside-down on top of another An-2. The wreck was broken up in 2007-2008, and the fuselage used as a diver's object in a lake.

Since 1999 this very rare ex CSA Tu-104 has been in use as a restaurant along Route 248 near Petrovice, very close to the border crossing with Germany. In this photo it still carries "Air Restaurant" titles and "Coca Cola" on the fin. By 2013 it had been painted in period CSA colours, but still with "Air Restaurant" titles. It was still here by 2017.

An unexpected visitor on Schiphol! A very nice (although less exciting) Il-76 of Volga-Dnepr. This was then the only Il-76 with new engines which fit into the new noise-regulation law, and I can tell you... they didn't sound that loud! (shame it is!). The fuselage is also just a bit larger than a regular Il-76.

Ex CSA Czechoslovak Airlines, seen here preserved along the E65 highway near Bakov nad Jizerou. It was withdrawn from use in Nov 1984 and placed here in Sep 1986 as a restaurant named Moto-Auto. When I arrived here the Moto-Auto titles had been removed (but still vaguely visible) and it appeared to be unused. The aircraft was still here by 2017.

I was visiting the Kbely museum and was able to look underneath a fence. Two Il-14's, Il-18 and a Yak-40, it was worth it! Delivered to the air force in 1958, flew with CSA as OK-MCB in 1960. Returned to the air force and converted to Avia 14FG, the photographic survey variant. Made its last flight on 9 April 1994 into Kbely. The Il-18 in the background was stored here after it was hit by a Tu-134 (OK-CFD) in 1977.

This Devon was previously flying for the Royal Navy as XJ350. It went in service in August 1955 and was phased out on March 25, 1981. The Aviodome (now Aviodrome) bought it in November 1982 and painted it in the colors of the PH-MAD. The "real" PH-MAD (cn 04030) joined Martin's Air Charter (now Martinair) on March 31, 1960.

This C-47 is preserved at the US Air Force base at Frankfurt-Rhein Main airport. It is a memorial for the Berlin Airlift, a huge operation to bring food and fuel into Berlin in 1948/49. The Russians had isolated Berlin from the rest of the world so no cargo could enter Berlin over the ground. The only way to bring those things was through the air. Next to this DC-3 is also DC-4 44-9063. The DC-3 has flown as EC-ASF with Iberia, T.3-64 with the Spanish Air Force and as N1350M. And of course as you see it now: 43-49081 of the USAAF.

Nice history for a Fokker! It first flew on 29 April 1992, and the first operator was Rio Sul with the registration PT-SLO. In 1998 its registration became PH-KXM for the rest of its life. This doesn't mean it hasn't flown with other operators. With this registration it flew with TAAG Angola (for a demonstration), KLM Cityhopper, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Denim Air, Euromanx and on the 5th of May 2005 its operator became VLM.
