The prototype stretched Tudor 2 taking off on a test flight, Avro logo on the nose. Retains the original pointed fin shape. Crashed on take-off at Woodford on 23 August 1947 because of incorrect assembly of ailerons. Designer Roy Chadwick and others were killed. Obtained from Avro in the 1950s.

The Tudor 2 was a stretched version of the Type 688 Tudor 1 and 4. Air Charter operated this aircraft from Stansted on ad hoc passenger flights from 1953 onwards. It was broken up there in July 1959. No Tudors survive.

Lome Airways of Canada operated this ex-BSAAC stretched Tudor 5 during 1952/53. It is seen soon after its return to the UK. It was stored until 1959 when it was scrapped at Stansted.

Built as G-AGRZ. Flown by the RAE 1950-1953 for pressurisation tests. Returned to G-AGRZ for Flight Refuelling Ltd in November 1953, then to Aviation Traders in March 1954 for spares recovery. Scrapped in July 1959.

Transferred from BSAAC on amalgamation in September 1949 and BOAC's darker cheatline added, but never operated by BA and stored at Stansted until scrapping in July 1959.

This Tudor 5 was ex British South American Airways - BSAA still visible on nose. Operated by Dempster from September 1950 until March 1954. Photo obtained 60 years ago.

A stretched Tudor 5 ex BSAAC. Owned by Freddie Laker's Air Charter Ltd from April 1954 until it was broken up at Stansted in 1956. Lome Airways Tudor 5 CF-FCY is centre with another Air Charter example at the right. No Tudors survive today.
