This Huey used to be registered as a military aircraft (ex German AF 70+34), which makes it very difficult to fly it as a civil chopper instead. This beauty awaits the legal outcome here in the Arica hangar, what else can she do? (Nikon D610 + Nikkor 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED AF-S)

This Huey was allocated the US serial 63-13587 for administrative purposes, but was delivered new to 9 Sqn RAAF in 1964. Shipped to Vietnam, it served there 1966-68. During that time it saw action at most of the major Australian battles, including being shot down in April 1967. As a result a new tailboom had to be grafted on to the forward fuselage. Allocated to the AWM in 1985 and displayed since 2007 in this very realistic action diorama.

This historic Huey saw action with 9 Squadron RAAF at the battle of Long Tan during the war in Vietnam. Allocated the USAF serial 63-13588, but delivered new to the RAAF on 12 Dec 1964 (incidentally, just a couple of weeks before I was born). Based at Vung Tau from mid-1966. Returned to Australia in April 1968 and used in the SAR role with 5 Squadron until retired in June 1984. Allocated to the School of Radio at RAAF Laverton until 1993, then transferred to the RAAF Museum and restored 2000-02.

PK-OAU was registered PK-LBB. After overhaul it joined the Airfast fleet in Indonesia. The last two letters of the registration have been applied with duct tape after initially being painted as PK-OAS. PK-OAU is believed to current.
