Why the interest in the DC-3 is not explained but Boulder City was the last stop before Burbank (Hollywood) for TWA's transcontinental flights from New York. It would have been popular service for Hollywood's stars. NC13718 was bought by the British Purchasing Commission during World War II and used by the RAF as DG471. Crashed in October 1941. By 1981 this former Panagra DC-7 served as the "DC-7 Steak House" on the southwest corner of Georgia Highway 49 and Interstate 75 near Byron, GA. Its tail plane and the wings outboard the #2 and #3 engines were removed, but otherwise it was complete and in good condition. The aircraft carried no registration or titles, but still had "700" on the nosewheel doors. The facility stayed open for a few years only, and by 1988 it had fallen in disuse and the aircraft had become a derelict. It was broken up a short while later. In 1947(!) this B-17 was put up as an eye-catcher at Art Lacey's Bomber Gas & Restaurant on SE McLoughlin Boulevard in Milwaukie, OR, on the west side of Route 99E. Nearly 50 years later, in March 1996, the forward fuselage and the tail gun turret were removed for restoration, but the rest of the aircraft remained on display at the restaurant until also removed in December 2014. By 2023 the aircraft was still under restoration to flying condition by the B-17 Alliance Foundation in their hangar at McNary Field, Salem, OR. A regimented squadron by 1914 standards, but the Dorand Do1 seems to have served in very small numbers. Designed as a reconnaissance bomber with armour plates weighing 90 kg around the cockpits, the type was badly underpowered but saw some action early in the Great War. It was redesigned as the Dorand AR. Dijon - Longvic was an airbase for 102 years, from 1914 until 2016. Photo from: Bibliothèque nationale de France - Gallica

The location is likely to be London Air Park at Feltham where owner Freddie Guest kept it, G-EBZV was sold in Sweden as SE-AFW in April 1937. Photo from: Paul E Garber / Smithsonian Institution
