It is unclear who the operator was at this time but it could still have been North Cariboo Air. Registered N394CA Classic Airlines Dec 89 and Salair Jul 92. To ERA Classic Airlines (date ?) as N1944M. I flew on it as such in Jun 1998! Registered N16005 Dec 2008. Preserved at the Lion Air Museum, Santa Ana CA. since circa 2009.

Later to California Air Tours and ditched just after departure from Petersburg AK on 21 Jun 1989. This is the narrative from ASN: "Climbing through 200-300 feet after takeoff a portion of the right aileron fabric separated. Then the pilot's control wheel became free. Although the mechanic in the right seat told him that his controls were functioning normally, the pilot disagreed and he ditched the aircraft."

Audi Air operated in Alaska from 1974 to 1989 when it was sold by the owner, Walt Audi.

Reregistered VH-MAR in November 1960.

This aircraft was photographed on October 29, 2019 being towed down a Fairbanks highway to what was later reported to be nearby Chena Marina Airport. I'll have to check this out during my planned 2021 Alaska trip.

Registered to Puma Air Leases at the time. Later went to Colombia as HK-3293X. Last noted in a museum with reg HK-3293.

2019 was its first year with Bush Air Cargo and it was leased to Desert Air in 2020.

This hard working DC-3 flies almost every day during the busy summer months.

Registered to All American Aviation May 84 to Oct 86. Later to Aero Express (still as N49454). Reported as shot down by Honduras Air Force 10 Mar 87 whilst on an illegal flight with false reg HK-313.

One of the original D-Day birds and still going strong. The aircraft operated in several wartime missions after D-Day, including Dragoon (France, July 1944), Market Garden (Netherlands, September 1944), Relief of Bastogne (Belgium, December 1944) and Varsity (Germany, March 1945). She participated in the Berlin Airlift before entering service with the Norwegian Air Force and later the Danish Air Force. After operating as VIP aircraft for the Danish Air force, she returned to the USA (and the Valiant Air Command) in 1988.

After being loaded with two reels of cable, this veteran freight dog heads out on another routine flight to the Alaskan outback. The large nose radome was probably installed in the 1980's while in service with Westinghouse Electric Corporation as avionics test bed.

Recorded as registered to Barons of Jacksonville Inc. at the time. Sold to Four Star Aviation Nov 87 and re-reg N136FS Jun 88. Written off by a serious cockpit fire whilst taxiing for take-off at San Juan (PR) 26 Apr 2009. According to one of the crew the fire began when flames suddenly burst out from behind the instrument panel. The cockpit area was completely destroyed. Two crew and two loaders evacuated safely. The Probable Cause was determined to be "worn electrical wires and a fuel pressure indicating system hose, which resulted in a fire". Lucky for those on it was still on the ground!
