July 1956: Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ for storage then transferred to the Navy at Naval Air Weapons Station, China Lake, CA and used as a ground target for weapons testing until 1975 when it was stored.. 1985: Air Force Museum Loan Program. December 1985: Transported to Ellsworth AFB and restored for static display; completed in 1994.

Restored to ferry. 8/71: Ferried to Harlingen, TX. By1978: Restored using parts from three other B-29s. 8/81: Re-registered as N529B. 1983: Used in the movie, "The Right Stuff" as the mother ship. 2006-2010: Full overhaul and new engines.
