"Doc" under tow at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2024. This aircraft was one of 3,970 B-29s built and one of two currently flying. It was built at Wichita in 1945 with USAAF s/n 44-69972 but did not see combat in World War II. The B-29 was assigned to 4713th Radar Evaluation Squadron at Griffiss AFB in 1951 for radar calibration duty, which named its B-29s after Disney's Snow White characters. In 1955 it was assigned to target towing as a TB-29 before sitting in the Mojave Desert as a target for bomb training. Recovered, it has been painstakingly restored to pristine condition over 16 years.

Operational with the US Air Force between March 1945 and March 1956, Doc was placed at the China Lake Weapons Range as a target from 1956. Moved in 1998 to the United States Aviation Museum, Inyokern, CA that was established by Mr. Tony Mazzolini to save the B-29, Boeing stepped in to help with restoration in 2000. The bomber was moved to Wichita, KS where it has been rebuilt to like new condition.
