The Ford C-3 photographed during parachute testing 'while assigned to the Fairfield Air Depot (1931-1932).' The depot was adjacent to Wright Field. The fuselage says 'F.A.D. Ford C-3', probably for Fairchild Air Depot. Photo from: US Air Force

The US Army bought two Vegas, both DL-1 aircraft with metal fuselages, built in Detroit. 31-405 was assigned to NACA at Langley and scrapped in 1935. The other one was 31-408, a DL-1B Special, designated Y1C-17. The fastest aircraft in the Army, it was used for an attempt at America's west to east transcontinental speed record, but crashed in Kentucky. Also, one L-5C Vega was impressed during WWII as 42-94148. Photo from: US Air Force

As located until about 2018. Marked as "0-38476" implying 63-8476, however that serial actually belonged to a Douglas SLV-2 Thor missile. Repainted as 66-15160 sometime between 2010 and 2012. Sometimes quoted as 63-8662, but that serial is also reported as having gone to Colombia, and the VVA chapter that owns this bird has paperwork for her as 66-15160.

On display at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force. The Erla Haube canopy is visible along with a taller tail unit. This is a U-4 that came equipped with the MK 108 30mm Motorkanone firing through the propeller hub. Previously a G-6, it was re-manufactured as a G-14 or G-10 that served as "Black 2" with II/JG 52. After being surrendered, it was shipped to the USA. The fighter is painted as a G-10 of JG 300 "Hermann" that was formed in June 1943. It wears the Reichsverteidigung blue-white-blue band of JG 300 on the fuselage.

One of the three early Ryan ST (no suffix) aircraft, powered by a 95-hp Menasco engine. NC18315 is a 1937 Taylorcraft A. Foster Lane's operation was temporarily 'evicted' from the south hangar at CMH by the US Navy during WWII. Seen here are the middle hangar, then used by Curtiss Flying Service, and the now demolished north hangar. N14911 is still current as of 2024 as an ST-A. It has been painted in Dutch East Indies warbird colours. Photo from: Lane Aviation

The first DC-2, registered in 1934. Foster Lane established the Port Columbus Flying School in 1935 and based himself in the TWA hangar. The front of the hangar originally carried the logo of TWA predecessor TAT, which was restored circa 2016, but what does it say here? NC13711 sold to Royal Air Force in 1941 as DG477 but by then it wore TWA scheme with two red tail stripes. Photo from: SFO Museum
