A KLM DC-3 framed with three DC-2s, PH-AKN, -R and -S. Note the word 'Amsterdam' on the platform, and the modern spelling IJ rather than Y in the titles of the DC-3. PH-AKS was badly damaged on 28 October 1938. It was eventually repaired but only to be requisitioned for Lufthansa by the Germans, as was PH-AKR. AKN and ARX were destroyed by bombing here on 10 May 1940. Photo from: Amsterdam City Archives

Rare wartime picture of a Stinson Vigilant, one of the few operated by the RAF. This may well be the Vigilant used by Canadian general Harry Crerar, since his troops fought in the nearby Reichswald in March 1945. Detail of a photo of a Dakota nose. Interesting detail of air-to-ground shot. The former Ghana Air Force Caribous were owned by trader Joseph Masin and arrived here for overhaul in 1974. Photo proves the tie-up G-405 to N90570 for c/n 56. Both frames were eventually scrapped here, N90570 after an accident in October 1981, most probably on the ground. Also seen are two Noratlasses of the fraudulent Elbeflug company which never took off. Photo by: Jules Vogt / ETH-Bibliothek Zürich
