42-29782 had already been a war monument for several years when Max and John Biegert made it airworthy again as a heavy agricultural spraying aircraft, installing seven chemical tanks in the fuselage and two F-94 Starfire tip tanks underwing. It became a fire bomber in May 1960, perhaps after this accident, and starred in several war movies. It is now at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. Photo by: Jack Lindsay / City of Vancouver Archives

The Grumman SF was a reconnaissance variant of the FF 'Fifi', little different from the two-seat fighter. The FF and SF were both retired from first-line US Navy squadrons by the end of 1936 and allocated to Naval Air Reserve units. On the left is BuNo 9471. Walrus K8341 / 780 was carried by the cruiser HMS Exeter in the Pacific, together with K8343 / 769. Both aircraft visited the airshow at Vancouver in 1937 and this photo was most probably taken there. The badge on the tailfin, a lion on waves, is Exeter's. K8341 may have become a victim of the German pocket battleship Graf Spee when her gunfire struck Exeter off the Rio de la Plata on 13 December 1939. Photo from: San Diego Air & Space Museum
