Coming from a German training unit, this Ar 196 was interned in Sweden in 1943. In January 1945 it was bought by Maj John Turner of MI6, who ran mountain observation posts to look into German-occupied Norway and thought the Arado, SE-AUO, suitable for his transportation needs. Having issues with the Swedes, Turner had his property flown to Oslo without permission on 27 May 1945. As seen here, it was used for a while by No 330 (Norwegian) Sqn with Norwegian roundels. No 8801 Air Disarmament Wing was looking to scrap German equipment, such as the He 115 in the background, but Turner managed to sell his plane back to Sweden were it towed targets as SE-AWY until crashing in 1947. 995 was taken to Apia on the HMS Dunedin amid unrest from Samoans demanding autonomy from New Zealand. The armed guard was not for show as a clash between the Mau movement and New Zealand police in December 1929 had led to 10 deaths. 995 was destroyed on a separate voyage in 1930 aboard the Dunedin when it dropped while being hoisted. Following Finland's secession from Russia, a civil war ensued and Germany sent forces to support White Finland against the Finnish Socialist Workers' Republic, including, apparently, this reconnaissance plane. As D-ACVH, this Fw 200 took foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentrop to Moscow on 22 August 1939 for the Hitler-Stalin Pact. It also carried Hitler to victory parades in Danzig and Warsaw on 29 September and 5 October 1939. It is seen here at Fornebu in 1940, probably on a regular transport flight during the invasion of Norway. From 1951 the small Bergen company Vestlandske Luftfartsselskap took over the seaplane route along the Norwegian coast, and two pre-production Sealands were acquired. ZK-TEC was on a training flight when the pilot attempted a non-standard landing maneuver demanded by the airline's training program. The aircraft hit the ground so hard the port wing was torn off as was most of the starboard wing. The tail also failed under the impact.
