TLG 71 is known as the Richthofen Geschwader, named after baron Manfred Von Richthofen, a fighter ace of WW I fame, better known as The Red Baron. The EF-2000s of this unit carry the stylish red "R" in a white crest, usually beneath the cockpit. Serial 3032 is seen here at its homebase Wittmundhafen.

Chukwani was a base for RNAS seaplanes during World War I. It is close to the site of the present day Zanzibar airport. Tanganyika was a German colony going into World War I and the UK deployed ships and aircraft to Zanzibar to counter the threat. As D-ACVH, this Fw 200 took foreign minister Joachim von Ribbentrop to Moscow on 22 August 1939 for the Hitler-Stalin Pact. It also carried Hitler to victory parades in Danzig and Warsaw on 29 September and 5 October 1939. It is seen here at Fornebu in 1940, probably on a regular transport flight during the invasion of Norway.
