995 was taken to Apia on the HMS Dunedin amid unrest from Samoans demanding autonomy from New Zealand. The armed guard was not for show as a clash between the Mau movement and New Zealand police in December 1929 had led to 10 deaths. 995 was destroyed on a separate voyage in 1930 aboard the Dunedin when it dropped while being hoisted.
