Reregistered VH-SMG in 1968. Work on the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric Scheme near Corryong brought in thousands of construction workers and prompted the decision to build the new Corryong airport. The need for air services ended quickly when construction was completed. The SMHEA had its own fleet of aircraft for moving key personnel between worksites and to and from Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne. Photo by: Vic Kilmartin v(via Greg Kilmartin

Airlines of NSW started flying from Sydney to Corryong following the opening of the new airport. Initially three times weekly as an extension of services to Cooma. In 1966 the frequency was twice weekly with flights routed via Wagga Wagga. It later became a connecting service, with sister airline Ansett-ANA flying the Corryong-Wagga using F27s. This aircraft was designed by Bruce Boland and financed by John Sandberg. It made its first flight 17-Aug-1986. It was powerd by a 2400hp Rolls Royce V-1650-7 Merlin engine. The manufacturer was listed in the US register as Aviation Engineering and Development Associates. The aircraft crashed 25-Sep-1991 while landing at Pierre-Muncipal, SD, because one of the flaps did not come out correctly. Unfortunately John Sandberg was killed. The registration was cancelled 01-Jul-2014. Here it was photographed just days before the crash. Photo by: withheld
