Gabon's T-34s do not appear to have carried external serials. Normal Gabon practice was to display the last two letters of serial/ registration and the c/n. A photo of three T-34s in formation (taken from the fourth) shows no distinguishing markings on any aircraft. TR-KFS is notable as the first T-34 delivered to Gabon. 43-48092 was based at Bentwaters with the 81st, which was initially a fighter-interceptor group. In 1955 it gave up its F-86s for F-84Fs and became a fighter-bomber group. The changed role can be seen in the badge behind the cockpit, which signified a nuclear strike role. It is not known if the photo is at Bentwaters, Sculthorpe or Shepherd's Grove. Adelaide's terminal usefully has a clock to remind interstate travellers to adjust their watches to Central Standard Time. The integrated terminal and tower was part of the new airport when it opened in 1955. A freestanding tower replaced that part in 1982 while the terminal was slowly lost behind various extensions. It ceased to be used in 2006 and demolished two years later. Photo from: Ken Morris

VH-AXL was fitted with two small porthole windows either side of the cabin when delivered to QEA. It had been an ambulance aircraft with the RAAF and was sold to the Flying Doctor Service. AXL was operated by Connellan Airways with these portholes but it is not known if they were installed by the RAAF or by Connellan postwar. Qantas refitted the standard DH84 glasshouse and sent the aircraft to Papua New Guinea. It crashed there at Karanka on September 21, 1951. Note the Qantas hangar still has its wartime camouflage.
