How about having the Soviet Union, the United States and Germany in your order book! Fokker achieved this with the D.XI fighter, although Germany's order was cancelled and taken up by Romania. The USAAS received three D.XIs with the PW-7 designation and Curtiss D-12 engines. 68580 had standard plywood wing skinning and V-type struts, but 68581 and 68582 had fabric wing skinning and N-type struts. Note bombs and McCook Field code P-327 on rudder. Photo from: San Diego Air & Space Museum

The logo on the fuselage is that of Phenick Flying Service, a small company formed in the 1930s by Herman Phenegar and Oscar Nichols. On 27 February 1939 they bought this 1928 Tri-Motor. They sold rides for 75 cents - note the company caravan equipped with megaphones. The aircraft was bought by the US government on 30 November 1942 to assist in the construction of the Pan American Highway in Costa Rica, where it later became TI-61. The old terminal and tower of then Port Columbus Airport are in the background. Photo from: Columbus Metropolitan Library

K25 slide scan. Built 1943. Modified 1964 for Cummins Diesel with many refinements: R1830-75 engines, removal of cargo door, squared off wingtips, fully enclosed mainwheel doors, retractable tailwheel, speed cowlings, large spinners, radar nose, wingroot fairings, Viemaster windows and modified hydraulics. In later years it was reconverted to feighter with cargo door installed again. After 14 static years on a farm in Oregon it was ferried to Oshkosh in October 2018 for BT-67 conversion. From 1985 it was operated by Mohican Air Service and is seen here being prepared for an engine run.

This is the fuselage of the second of two XF-90 a/c built. After two years of flight testing it was retired to the Nevada Test Site. There, it was subjected to three atomic bomb tests in 1952. Recovered by the USAF Museum, part of the decontamination process included removing all rivets in order to purge radioactive sand particles. The XF-90 is located in the restoration hangar and is not on display.
