VH-UNB, with renowned Qantas pilot Lester Brain at the controls, forced landed at Farnborough, near Yeppoon due to engine trouble. The location appears to be be along Farnborough Road near Farnborough Beach but the area has been altered by major road works and 90 years of cyclones. The houses are Queenslanders, a popular style designed for tropical living. -UNB crashed and burned at Ayr on April 10, 1930. Photo from: State Library of Queensland

RAAF aircraft A7-14 that was transferred in 1932 to the Civil Aviation Branch of the Defence Department, then responsible for civil aviation. Crashed in 1933 and then struck off the register in 1934. Rebuilt by the RAAF and returned to the CAB in 1936. Sold to the RQAC in 1939 but a year later was back with the RAAF, impressed as A7-85. At some time in RQAC service swapped its Cirrus engine for a Gipsy. Photo from: State Library of Queensland

No explanation as to what happened here but the proximity to the hangars suggests VH-UNF has been blown over in a storm. It was repaired and in September 1934 sold to Ansett Airways. -UNF became one of the aircraft lost in a hangar fire at Essendon airport on February 28, 1939. Photo from: National Library of Australia

VH-UKN had a chequered career with many prangs during its service with the Australian Aero Club (Victoria) and its successors, the Victorian Aero Club and the Royal Victorian Aero Club.
