This A-4M is actually an US Marine Corps aircraft and is painted in the Blue Angels scheme for museum display only.

The museum gate guard since 2014, having replaced A-7 70-0973. Delivered to the US Navy as A4D-2N 148571 in 1961, redesignated A-4C the following year. Became N401FS in 1974, N53996 seemingly not taken up and with Flight Systems until 1981. Via a short period at MASDC (3A530) to the museum.

The RSAF became an A-4 Skyhawk operator in the early 1970's. There are conflicting reports about how many A-4's the RSAF operated in the end, and the US FY # involved are not a 100% clear either. E.g. 912 shown here is reported to have US FY # 144966 (cn 12212) or 144972 (cn 12218). It started life as a single seat A-4B in 1959, and inserting a 28 inch fuselage "plug" modification made it a dual seat trainer at some point, resulting in the odd looking two bubble canopy unique to the ~20 RSAF TA-4's. The TA-4SU designation came after an upgrade carried out by ST Aerospace in the mid 1980's.

About to touch down on Runway 31 at Prestwick. Carrying US Navy serial 160211 and "star-and-bars" insignia, but on its delivery - new - to the Kuwait Air Force where it became 882. Accompanied on the delivery flight by two more new TA-4KU twin-seaters, 160214 to become Kuwait Air Force 885 and 160215 to become Kuwait Air Force 886. After retirement from active military service, put on static display in the Kuwait Air Force Museum at Kuwait International Airport, Kuwait City.

Operating from Carswell AFB as it was known then due to runway repairs at its base NAS Dallas which closed in 1998. Stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1999 and scrapped in 2020.

Although marked as TA-4F, this is a NTA-4F, with the N assigned in de Naval designations for a permanent test airframe. The nosecone section reveals the deviation with a normal trainer. This Skyhawk made its first flight on 30 Jun'65 and was assigned to VA-125 in 1966. In Apr'71, it was modified to NTA-4F and it never saw operational fleet squadron service again. First assigned to the Naval Air Test Center, then temporarly to transferred to VF-43 (modex 23) before it was assigned as a ground trainer to NATF Lakehurst (NJ. Then moved to the NWC (modex 042). Preserved at China Lake since Oct'96

On October 2 1991 this aircraft and CDR John 'Bug' Roach III were lost. Aircraft suffered an engine failure over the Pacific so the CDR then ejected but had a chute malfunction.
