Entered service with USAF in April 1945. Converted to a TB-29 in March 1952. Transferred to Davis-Monthan AFB (4715th Revron) in June 1959. Loaned to Pima in 1975, where the marking of 'Sentimental Journey' were later applied. Some of the wartime stories include crew complaining about the lack of windows in the back. A flack hit fixed that problem for him. Battle damage repairs (on the flap) can also still be seen. The aircraft was part of a squadron where the aircraft were named after the 7 dwarves. This one was named 'Dopey'. another surviving B-29 is the famous 'Doc'. The aircraft was used in the filming of the movie Enola Gay. During the filming, it was discovered that the wartime markings were still etched in the aircraft skin.

Constructed as a B-50D-125-BO and delivered to the USAF around 1949 as 49-0372. Coverted to a KB-50/ tanker KB-50D in 1956. Converted with 2 turbojets to a KB-50J in 1958. Loaned to Pima at some point between 1958 and 1977.

Massive props and engines and they are augmented by outboard jet engines.

"Its Hawg Wild" displayed at Imperial War Museum Duxford. This B-29 didn't participate to WWII but was involved in 105 war missions over Noth Korea with the 307th Bomber Group based at this time at Kadena, Japan.

The preserved fuselage of 46-10 which flew non-stop around the world in 94 hours, with four air-to-air refuellings, in Feb/March 1949. The flight was from Carswell AFB and the aircraft was later damaged in an accident with only its fuselage surviving.

Undergoing restoration after many years on external display at MacDill AFB, Florida. Painted as 48-114 but the aircraft's correct serial is 49-389.

That man up front has the ultimate seat in "Fifi" but my seat in the gunners position mid fuselage was pretty good too.
