Delivered to the USAAF as 44-61748 and stored at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1945. Returned to service in 1951. Retired at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in 1954 then to China Lake, CA for use as a range target in 1956. Acquired by the Imperial War Museum and registered as G-BHDK in 1979. Restored to airworthy condition, flown to the UK and made its last flight to Duxford for preservation in 1980. Moved inside the American Air Museum there when it opened in 1996.

Ex USAF/USAAF 44-61748. Flown into Duxford on 2 March 1980 for preservation. Registration cancelled on 21 February 1984 as permanently withdrawn from use.

"Its Hawg Wild" displayed at Imperial War Museum Duxford. This B-29 didn't participate to WWII but was involved in 105 war missions over Noth Korea with the 307th Bomber Group based at this time at Kadena, Japan.

Making a welcome appearance outside while the American Air Museum is refurbished, Duxford's B-29 was ferried from Tucson in 1980 using registration G-BHDK
