This Chinook saw for sure many combat landings in Afghanistan, it is weathered by oil leaks and is has sand all over. ZA707 was delivered to the RAF on 28 September 1981 as a HC1 version. It was later converted to HC2 and much later to HC4 and even to HC6A. As such, it was still flying within the RAF in 2024.

The Flycatcher was one of the earliest aircraft designed specifically for carrier operation. It also could be fitted with floats or amphibious floats for operation from catapults. The floats in the photo are not amphibious. This early production aircraft has an Armstrong-Siddeley Jaguar engine. Flycatchers were also delivered with Bristol Jupiters.
