The second prototype Viscount was allotted G-AHRG but first flew on March 15, 1950 with serial VX217. It was mainly used to test the Tay jet engine, two being fitted, but latterly used by Boulton Paul. Damaged beyond repair by fire in a wheel well during 1958 and scrapped at Seighford in 1960. Scanned from a stipple surfaced print.

The prototype Triplane first flew in May 1916 and the type entered service with the Royal Naval Air Service early in 1917 and a total of 147 were built. It was a very agile but lightly armed type that was soon superceded by the biplanes. Often quoted as cn 8385M, but that is its allocated RAF maintenance serial.
