Used as transports between Australia and Papua New Guinea. They were difficult to maintain and unserviceable frequently. In 1944, the five survivors - one burned at its mooring because of an electrical fault - were flown to Lake Boga for storage. All were scrapped in 1945. A4-28 was a pre-World War II delivery to the RAAF as a general reconnaissance aircraft. Soon after the war started, the RAAF replaced Ansons in this role with Lockheed Hudsons. A4-28 was transferred to training units where it was joined by the 1000 Ansons shipped to Australia as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme. It was scrapped after the war.
