No date for this incident but the caption states H1428 came to grief during a night flight. Significantly it was the aircraft in which C.W.A. Scott had his first flying lesson when he joined the RAF in 1922. Scott achieved global fame as the winner of the London-to-Melbourne air race in 1934 flying DH-88 Comet G-ACSS. The Bristol was rebuilt as an army cooperation aircraft, issued a new c/n and shipped to India for service on the North-West Frontier.

Transferred to the USA for the Blue Angels. To become next "Fat Albert" Team support aircaft.

Away from its normal haunts and at Heathrow for some maintenance by BA. Aircraft is ex British United G-ATDJ.

Now preserved at AeroVenture, Doncaster.

The aircraft obtained through an exchange with the RAF Museum in 1991. The aircraft was modified using the armament and nose section from a FB.Mk.VI and is painted in 333 Squadron's colour scheme to represent the Norwegian war history.

Quite a colorful history for the Spitfire, as it has been transferred through a lot of units and in the shape of multiple identities. It is currently preserved at the aviation museum in the colors of 331 Squadron. Other aircraft that can be seen in the photo are a Catalina, Huey and Vampire.

Built in 1938 and later transferred to 263 Sqn of the RAF, where it was given it's HE-G code. After the German invasion in April 1940, it was one of 18 aircraft that was transferred to Norway on the carrier HMS Glorious. The RAF parked their aircraft in the slush on the ice and disregarding advice from the local Norwegian liaison officer. The aircraft were unattended and they froze into the ice during the night. When the Heinkels arrived in the morning, they were sitting ducks and most of 263 Sqd was obliterated . It was dismantled and hidden in a shed during the war years. The restoration process began in 1980.

Serving as a gateguard at the Norwegian Aviation Museum, just outside the airport of Bodø.

41 Sqn sent a couple of their Jaguars to Volkel while actually operating temporarily from RAF Laarbruch in November 1982 (while teachers were on strike in the Netherlands, enabling me to go to Volkel)
