Built in 1938 and later transferred to 263 Sqn of the RAF, where it was given it's HE-G code. After the German invasion in April 1940, it was one of 18 aircraft that was transferred to Norway on the carrier HMS Glorious. The RAF parked their aircraft in the slush on the ice, disregarding advice from the local Norwegian liaison officer. The aircraft were unattended and they froze into the ice during the night. When the Heinkels arrived in the morning, they were sitting ducks and most of them were destroyed, except for this example, that was later restored.

The Norsk Luftfartsmuseum in Bodø has an interesting collection of aircraft on display, like this Pe-2fT front fuselage section. This Pe-2FT was operated by the 121 BBAP and took off with four others to attack a German convoy. It was shot at by a German fighter and was forced to make a landing at Kudalsfjellet mountain. It managed to shoot down Ju88D-1 0881055 before it landed here. The wreck of the Pe-2FT was brought down the mountain in 1989, restored and put on display in 1998.

Looking decidedly worse for wear after more than a decade in harsh northern climate, this Huey was originally with the US Army as 60-3597, to the Royal Norwegian Air Force as 597 in 1970 where it also flew for UNIFIL in Lebanon in the late 1970s. When retired from the air force it became an instructional airframe at a local technical school in Bodø in 1990, later to Norsk Luftfartsmuseum.

Lurforsvaret's 337 Skv was reestablished in 1980 to operate Lynx helicopters from the Coast Guard's Nordkapp class patrol vessels in the Arctic. The first helicopters arrived in October 1980. After serving for 34 years, the last was retired in December 2014. The Lynx originally had a service life of 7,000 hours. Several of 337 Skv's Lynx were retired with more than 9,000 hours flying time. As this detail shot shows 235 is the World Fleet Leader with 9,198.3 hours flying time. Most of those hours were flown in the Arctic in all weather and light conditions.

The aircraft was initially serialled as BH-QQ, later as 4D-AM. Stationed at Banak (Finnmark) in 1942 with the main task of bombing the Allied convoys between Great Britain and Murmansk. After attacking the two Soviet navy vessels 'Kiev' and ' Occident', it ran out of fuel during the flight back. The crew bailed near Hammerfest and the aircraft crashed on the Gardevarre mountain. The aircraft was recovered in 1988 and placed on display in about the same way it was found.

The aircraft was delivered to 336 Sqn in 1950 as B-B1. Transferred to 337 Sqn in July 1951 and given the code ZK-U. After being withdrawn from use it was transferred to Værnes Air Station for storage. Written off in 1957 and selected as a museum object (after 618 flying hours). The Vampire was the RNoAF's first jet fighter and between May 1948 and April 1951, a total of 20F MK.II and 36 FB Mk.52's were delivered. The Air Force tried to (unsuccesfully) sell the aircraft in 1955 and 1956, resulting in the aircraft being scrapped, except for 6 T Mk.55's that were sold back to the factory.

Built in 1994. It is a one-off homebuilt helicopter, built by Torstein Reinfjell. It was a trial project to see whether he could build a usable helicopter for reasonable costs, using his own theories and idea. The aircraft is made up of boat, car and aircraft parts. The build was a success and was flown several times. The project was concluded in 1999 and the aircraft was donated to the museum.

The first Catalina in Norwegian service was a PBY-5B with the 1477(N) Flight, later the 333 (Norwegian) Sqn. They were used for U-boat patrols and flights to the Norwegian coast, transporting personnel and equipment. After WW2, the Air Force kept operating the type for transport, rescue, herring searches and mine hunt operations. In the autumn of 1953 the 333 Skv received 6 new PBY-5A aircraft. These served until 1961, completing almost 20 years of Catalina service in the Air Force.
