NZ3501 showing the damage caused when it collided with Ventura NZ4518 on March 1, 1945. Four of the five on the Ventura parachuted to safety but the pilot was unable to bail out in time. NZ3501 flew subsequent to the collision but it is not known the permanency of the repairs. It was at Ohakea in March 1946 before being flown to Hobsonville to become an instructional airframe. On April 19, 1954, NZ5901 crashed landed at Mauripur, Pakistan. The accident left the aircraft badly damaged, its back broken, undercarriage collapsed and engines hanging from the wings. Parts of the aircraft were shipped to Bristol in the UK for rebuilding. Sources say only the tail and engines reused and the rest of the airframe scrapped.
