Miss Temperance set a new trans-Tasman Sea record flying from Sydney airport to Whenuapai airport, Auckland, in four hours 33 minutes aided by a 60kt tailwind. To put it in perspective the scheduled flight time in 2022 is three hours. The Joint Airways Communication System Pacific (JACSPAC) was a US Army-Navy unit set up during World War II to provide flight services to both.
