This elegant warbird has been entirely built by a very small team led by Jean Noan after 12 years of effort and 25,000 man hours! Only 2 prototypes aircraft were built in France and flew in April 1940. Both and the whole relevant documentation were destroyed or lost durning the war. It was an extrordinary technical challenge and a great human adventure to built again this aircraft and to made it airworthy 60 years after. Hats off! It was later registered F-AZJY.

After the Mirage IIIV VTOL fighter project, Dassault built a swept-wing prototype powered by one P&W TF30 engine, the Mirage IIIF2 or Mirage F2 (centre). The planned single-seat, TF30-engined Mirage F3 interceptor was abandoned in favour of the variable-geometry Mirage G, however. The TF30-powered Mirage IIIG prototype is seen in the background. Eventually the twin-engined Mirage G8 got cancelled too in 1973 and the smaller and simpler, Atar 9K-50-engined Mirage F1, in the foreground, became the Mirage III's successor instead. Built by Jacobs-Schweyer during the war, its German registration is unknown. After the war it was brought to France where it flew as "Weihe No.3", next as R-62 and in Dec-1957 it was registered as F-CBGT, in Dec-1964 changed to F-CRMD and cancelled Sep-1972. Next it was allocated F-CBGT but this was not taken up. In 1990 it was registered as F-CRMX. Its Certificate of Airworthiness expired in Apr-1997 and then it went to the Musée Régional de l'Air, in 2003 renamed Espace Air Passion at Angers.

The Netherlands East Indies acquired some Glenn L. Martin aircraft from 1915, and the Dutch navy ordered four Type S floatplanes which reached the motherland by ship in mid-1917. They proved both difficult to reassemble and difficult to fly. The type, built in very limited numbers, was designed by Donald Douglas. The interned German Friedrichshafen FF.33, V-2, has a similarly elaborate tailfin and rudder. The floatplanes are seen at the naval seaplane station at De Mok, on Texel Island.
