Built in 1931 for the Champion Spark Plug Company. Flown by Captain Lewis Yancey 1931-32 in demonstration flights, one of them being a flight over the Gulf of Mexico from Havana, Cuba to the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. It was then on display at the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry until it was sold off after WW2. It was eventually discovered in a barn and was acquired by Steve Pitcairn, who restored it to flying condition. Steve is seen in the slide taxiing out for takeoff at the 1986 EAA Convention, which was one of the first public flying displays of it after restoration.

Arriving in Canada in 1973 with Associated Helicopters, this Bell was registered to Vancouver Island Helicopters January 21,1985. While fire fighting on contract in Washington State during September 1988, the helicopter refueled at remote helipad near Ential, WA but did not arrive at the work site. Wreckage was found on a steep mountain slope showing evidence of an in-flight main rotor mast fracture and aircraft break-up;

Originally with Air Wisconsin, this 1975 Metro was flying in California with Sun Aire Lines from June 1983. SkyWest bought Sun Aire in 1984 to expand it's reach, merging the two carriers in September 1985. Returned to the lessor in August 1988, N538S would next fly with Grand Aire Express in March 1990 , the aircraft being re-registered N167GA two years later. It was broken up at Toledo, OH in January 2000.
