Six T-28As including 49-1605 were modified by the Hamilton Aircraft Company as the T-28R-1 Nomair 1 military trainer for use by the Brazil Air Force in 1962 and registered as N-702. It is believed that N-702 crashed in the sea near Cabo Frio in January 1964. Scanned from an original reproduced photograph from my collection, date, and photographer unknown.

O2U-2 serial number 303 was Initially commissioned in May 1934, however in 1936 the U.S. Coast Guard adopted a new serial number system, consisting of the letter "V" followed by a three-digit number and this aircraft became V119. The "19" indicated that this was the 19th aircraft acquired by the USCG. This aircraft saw service until April 1937. Scanned from an original reproduced USCG photograph dated 1st July 1956, from my collection, photographer unknown.

The Portuguese air force and navy received six newish Oxfords each in September 1943. The naval ones received serials O-1 through O-6, ex LX417 through LX422, and we assume that O-2 is LX418, but this is subject to confirmation. Photo from: Museu de Marinha (Portugal)

The Shark was in some respects more modern than the Fairey Swordfish, but apparently the wing construction was not up to diving. The Portugese navy initially refused to take delivery of its six airframes, ordered for £50,000 in 1935, and they were already withdrawn in 1938 following a fatal accident. The nose numbers then in use were type-based and not unit codes, so this should be s/n 76, which wore nose number 4 already in England. Photo from: Museu de Marinha (Portugal)

B-26s of the 397th Bomb Group. The nearest aircraft, 43-34401 / 9F-K, is a B-26G of 597 BS. That aircraft crashed due to engine failure near the group's base, Péronne / Saint-Quentin (LFAG) in France on 14 February 1945, shortly after this photo was taken. Photo from: Imperial War Museums
